Who We Are
Save LBI Advocacy is a separate nonprofit organization organized under Section 501(c)(4) of the Internal Revenue Code and affiliated with Save LBI - 501(c)(3).
Save LBI Advocacy was created to ensure that our community has a voice when energy and environmental policy is shaped through legislation.
Our Purpose
Save LBI Advocacy will argue for or against specific federal and state energy and environmental bills, hire professional lobbyists where needed, and engage legislators and agency officials directly on policy substance to protect coastal communities, ratepayers, and environmental review processes.
Save LBI Advocacy remains strictly non-partisan.
Non-Partisan Commitment
Save LBI Advocacy does not support or oppose political candidates or political parties.
Our advocacy focuses solely on legislation, public policy outcomes, and the public interest.

Why did Save LBI create Save LBI Advocacy?
Save LBI Advocacy was created to allow our organization to advocate for or against specific legislation that affects Long Beach Island, coastal communities, and energy policy, because poorly crafted past legislation has been an impetus for unsound offshore wind projects.
While Save LBI - 501(c)(3) can educate the public and pursue litigation, federal law limits its ability to advocate for or against specific legislative proposals. Save LBI Advocacy fills that gap.

Yes. Supporters may choose to support either or both organizations, depending on whether they wish to us to pursue education and litigation (Save LBI) or legislative advocacy (Save LBI Advocacy).
Why not do this work under Save LBI?
Federal law limits how much lobbying a 501(c)(3) organization may conduct.
Creating Save LBI Advocacy allows each organization to operate effectively within the law while advancing the same overall mission.

Will Save LBI Advocacy replace Save LBI?
No. Save LBI Advocacy complements Save LBI.
Save LBI will continue its work in education, research, litigation, and community engagement.
